Wesley Hall, and is open to all our members and visitors. We follow the order of worship suggested by the United Methodist Church with an informal atmosphere. We experience Holy Communion the first Sunday of each month with an invitation to all present to come to the Table of Grace. We also provide a nursery for our little ones during the worship time. We welcome you to fellowship with us as we grow as Christians. Sunday School classes begins at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings for adults and children.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Children, Youth & Nursery” tab_id=”1515010679800-f6463cfc-5b76″][vc_column_text 0=””]Children are a vital part of our congregation. During worship service each Sunday morning we invite them to join Rev. Hall at the front to hear and participate in a mini-sermon which simplifies his message for that day. A nursery is also available for anyone wishing to use that service for their young children. Youth activities are planned with an emphasis on service and missional work. Some of these activities are coordinated through the Surry Missional Network. Always be in prayer for our children.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”United Methodist Women” tab_id=”1515010679822-ffc62e0c-4afe”][vc_column_text]The United Methodist Women’s group has been active for many years in our church. The purpose of the organized unit of United Methodist Women is to be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of missions through participation in the global ministries of the church. We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30. Meetings are conducted by our president, Norma Lampron, with devotions, business and project discussions, and fellowship during refreshments. We are involved in many community outreach projects; such as, supporting the Food Pantry monthly as well as donating 500 pounds of sugar for their project in November, Feeding the Copeland Bluebirds, making sunshine boxes, supporting the Benevolence Fund, providing Prayer Shawls for those with extended illnesses, completing hands-on projects for our conference mission projects, financially supporting missionary work in Africa, participating in the Shoebox Ministry, and other mission projects throughout the year. In August our group enjoys fellowship as we have a night out for dinner, and in December we will have our covered dish Christmas Party at the Harbour Barn. Our group is open to all the women in our church and community and we welcome everyone to come and join us each month.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”United Methodist Men” tab_id=”1516136912774-0de8568d-f44f”][vc_column_text]Level Cross United Methodist Men’s group was formed to provide the men of our church an opportunity to serve Christ through service and fellowship. Every male in our church is considered a member and invited to attend our meetings. The group meets for breakfast on the second Sunday of each month at 8:00 am. Our group assists with repair and maintenance needs at our church and parsonage. We work on projects in and around our church and community that allows us to help and serve just as Jesus would have us do. Our men financially sponsor the scout groups that are based at our church. Charles Calhoun is the Scout’s Charter Organization Representative, as well as president of our men’s group. Our special activities during the year include; a night out for the ladies in our church on Valentines’ Day, a fish fry in the spring, a chicken stew in the fall, and a men’s night out for Christmas in December. We also prepare a breakfast for our congregation on Easter morning following the Sunrise Service and on the Sunday before Christmas. Summer lawn mowing and maintenance at the parsonage are also included in our activities as well as clean-up days at the church, which are regularly scheduled. We invite visitors to join our Men’s group at any time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Choir/Music” tab_id=”1516137050941-68e4801d-9213″][vc_column_text]“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Music has always been a vital part of our worship at Level Cross. We have had a choir to lead that music and provide special selections for many many years. Our choir practice is held on Tuesdays at 6:30. Our choir is directed by Diane Marion, and assisted by Judy Joyce. Our pianist is Rhonda Henson. We enjoy a variety of musical selections from the Methodist hymnal, The Faith We Sing, and other sources. We present a Christmas Contata on the Sunday before Christmas and other selected music to accompany special holidays. We enjoy the music and fellowship of our choir and invite any new members. Come sing with us![/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Yearly Events & Religious Celebrations” tab_id=”1516137076927-793829ba-854b”][vc_column_text]We enjoy celebrating special occasions throughout the year.
During January – February we hold a “Souper Bowl” lunch after worship for the congregation. In the winter we gather on at least one Sunday afternoon for games and snacks. In March our men’s group provides a delicious Fish Fry dinner.
Spring brings a variety of Easter services; including, Mandy Thursday, Good Friday, the Sunrise Service, breakfast, Easter worship service, and of course our annual Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones. Our Homecoming service is a great time for worship and fellowship on the first Sunday in May, with a meal, and revival services beginning that night.
The summer brings Vacation Bible School and a Charge “End of Summer” cook-out at Fisher River Park.
Everyone looks forward to our Harvest Sale on the first Saturday in October. It is a Level Cross tradition with food all day, a yard sale, handmade items, a bake sale, a BBQ dinner (Gary Marion’s specialty), and more great fellowship than you can imagine. Everyone’s favorite is our Homemade Apple Pies available for purchase about two weeks before our Harvest Sale through the day of the event. As Fall arrives we look forward to the men’s chicken stew that’s just right when the weather begins to cool. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving our church celebrates our many blessings with a meal and service following.
We end our year’s celebrations with a variety of Christmas activities beginning with our Hanging of the Green and first Advent service, a Christmas program presented by adults and children, a caroling night for our community shut-ins, and a cantata presented by the choir. Our Christmas Eve eleven o’clock service for the community is the only one in our area.
Special holidays are observed throughout the year with music, worship altar displays, interaction with the congregation, and special mention during the service. Some of these holidays include; Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Veteran’s Day, All Saint’s Day, Thanksgiving, Advent, and more.
Some of our celebrations are not season specific but take place throughout the year; such as our community meals and our Women’s group chicken pie makings. Our walking track is available anytime for the community. We schedule Bible Studies and a variety of other Outreach activities. Our Homeless bags are available for church members to share as they see a need. Our Kid’s Zone tutoring program and our exercise classes also serve as successful outreach community programs. The things listed here are not all inclusive but hopefully give those visiting our website an idea of the goals of Level Cross UMC to be a place of good fellowship, outreach to the community, and a place where doing God’s work as we worship Him is our priority.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section]
